Alloy 347 stainless steel plate exhibits good general corrosion resistance that is comparable to 304. It was developed for use in the chromium carbide precipitation range of 800 – 1500°F (427 – 816°C) where un stabilized alloys such as 304 are subject to intergranular attack.

Jun 10, 2015 · I dont know how 347 ss machine but i usually run 304 at 450 sfm and 316 at 400 so at first sight 650 sound high to me. I also dont know the mits insert, is this a stainless grade or a general all around grade. I usually use seco tm4000 or walter wsm30 grade for stainless. I run at up to 0.1 doc 0.012 feed for roughing.

347 stainless steel has slightly improved corrosion resistance over type 321 stainless steel in strongly oxidizing environments. Type 347 is stabilized with columbium, it is preferable for aqueous and low temperature environments due to its good resistance to intergranular attack.
Similar to 321 stainless, 347 uses columbium as a stabilizing element to maximize its principal featureresistance to intergranular corrosion. It can be used in applications requiring repeated heating in the range of 800 and 1650 F (427 899 C).
Machinability depends on the physical properties and the cutting conditions of the material. Machinability can be eed as a percentage or a normalized value. The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) has determined AISI No. 1112 carbon steel a machinability rating of 100%.

Aug 22, 2016 · The most weldable stainless steels are typically in the austenitic group. When welding austenitic stainless steels, grades such as 304L or 347 should be used. Grade 304L has lower carbon while 347 has niobium stabilizers added to it which help to deter intergranular corrosion.
